Category C+E (Class 1) training involves upgrading your licence to drive articulated large goods vehicles over 7,500kg with a trailer over 750kg. The process requires a medical exam, vocational theory tests (if coming straight from a car licence), an off-road reversing module (3a), and an on-road driving test (3b)
Category C (Class 2) training prepares you to drive rigid heavy goods vehicles over 7.5 tonnes. The process involves a medical exam, a provisional licence application, multiple-choice and hazard perception theory tests, off-road and on-road practical driving tests (Modules 3A and 3B), and optional Driver CPC modules if you plan to drive professionally.
Category C1 training prepares you to drive medium-sized vehicles weighing between 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes (such as ambulances, small horseboxes, and 7.5t delivery trucks). The process involves a medical exam, applying for a provisional licence, passing theory tests, and completing intensive practical behind-the-wheel training and tests
